Welcome to the Office of the Putnam County Historian! We seek to preserve, interpret, and promote the history of our county and the region. Since 1953, the County Historian has been collecting historical records, maps, books, photographs, and periodicals to make these goals possible. In 1992, the Putnam County Archives was established in the Historian’s Office to preserve, arrange, describe, and make accessible the governmental records of Putnam County. We hope that the archives and collection will be used as a resource for people in our county and elsewhere, and to that end we have developed paper and electronic finding aids to help you navigate our holdings.
