 General
  Benedict Arnold is infamous for his thwarted plan to surrender American-c
 ontrolled West Point to the British during the Revolutionary War. Join PHM
  for a history hike of Arnold’s escape path through present day Garrison
 \, NY. Along the way we’ll discuss why the General was driven to betray 
 the Revolution and how prominent local loyalist Beverley Robinson aided Ar
 nold’s mission.
 We will be joined by Cornell Cooperative Extension of 
 Putnam County and they will explore some of the ways that the natural envi
 ronment plays a part in the history of the area.
 This history hike inclu
 des scenic views of the Hudson River and West Point and will last approxim
 ately 1.5 to 2 hours. The trail is one mile in length but includes uneven 
 rocky terrain and several steep hills. Appropriate footwear and active/out
 door attire strongly suggested.
 Starting Location: Marsha’s Mile / Gle
 nclyffe Trailhead Parking Lot\, 8 Glenclyffe\, Philipstown\, NY 10524. The
  parking lot is on the right hand side immediately after turning from 9D o
 nto Glenclyffe.
 Hike Difficulty: Moderate. Path includes several steep h
 ills and sections of rocky\, uneven terrain.
