Janice Dean Visits Putnam County Seniors at Luncheon and OSR Staff
Carmel NY – Yesterday, Janice Dean attended the Putnam County Office for Senior Resources’ (OSR) St. Patrick’s Day Senior Luncheon held at the Putnam County Golf Course. She was invited to attend by Putnam County Executive Kevin Byrne to attend as a special guest.
Janice Dean is a senior meteorologist at Fox News and well-known seniors’ advocate. Having lost her mother-in-law and father-in-law who were residing in nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, Dean became an outspoken critic of New York State’s policies that failed to protect senior citizens during the height of the pandemic. Most recently, she published a book called “I Am the Storm,” which shares her personal journey and the lessons she’s learned from everyday heroes taking on long odds.
“I’m so happy to have been invited to visit with all of you. This is an absolutely beautiful community,” Dean told the crowd of over 100 residents from all over Putnam. “Whenever I have an opportunity to speak with seniors, I cherish it. They are a wealth of knowledge and experience.”
“Janice is a true champion for seniors and I’m so grateful she was able to take time to come visit Putnam County, especially after she had an extremely busy week in her day job covering the nor’easter that hit New York this week,” said County Executive Byrne. “I know our seniors and our staff at OSR loved hearing from Janice and appreciated her visit.”
Dean also took the opportunity to sign copies of her book as well as visit and speak with staff at OSR’s office in Carmel. All copies of her book given out came at no expense to those in attendance, nor at the expense of the taxpayers of Putnam County.

Welcome Message
“Remember that Putnam County is home. Regardless of what may make us different as individuals, it is our respect for each-other as neighbors, our desire to step up and serve, to lend a hand, and leave this beautiful county better off than we found it. That is what makes this place so special. It is with that in mind that we as a county government are here to serve, and will always serve, with a desire to do better.” - Kevin M.
