Cornish Estate (Northgate Ruins) Lecture and Art Workshop in September with the Putnam History Museum

Sunday, September 22nd, Johnson and the Putnam History Museum will lead a plein air drawing class at the ruins themselves. In addition to his preservation work, Thom is a retired art teacher with 30 years of experience. He will guide participants of all ages and skill levels through essential drawing techniques, including pencil shading, blending, and composition building. No experience is necessary to participate! Attendees will also learn about the Hudson River School and its influence on the region’s heritage.

“We love when we have the opportunity to combine art, history, and nature,” said Cassie Ward, Executive Director of the Putnam History Museum. “What better way to immerse yourself in the story of the Cornish Estate than a plein air drawing class at the ruins themselves? This is our second art class with Thom, and participants are in for a treat. Anyone with an interest in local history or art should join us for this special program that is only offered once a year!”
