History in Our Backyard: The Homes and Farms of Fahnestock Park
In-person only! Putnam History Museum
Talk by Paula Andros
Thursday, October 9
7 PM
Gather at the Putnam History Museum on 10/9 to hear a talk on the historic homes and farms in Fahnestock State Park, including how the Fahnestock family left a lasting impact on Putnam County.
Before Fahnestock was a state park, it was home to miners and charcoal burners, dairy farms, and long-gone manors.
It was only through the intervention of the Fahnestock family in the 1900s that brought these various plots of land together and turned it into a park. Join us in-person at the Putnam History Museum for a talk by local expert Paula Andros on the origins of Fahnestock, including Clarence Fahnestock, Helen Hubbard and the Perkins family.
