Pop-Up at Putnam Arts Council

On Saturday, February 15, from 2-5pm, the Arts Council will open its exhibition  season with a pop-up Invitational featuring area artist and poet, Danielle Rogers.  The exhibition, To each his own: poems and paintings in the life of a Belgian girl coming to America, will include dreamlike landscape acrylics along with a variety of works with influences that reflect pop-art  and cubism  Her poems speak to her passions and frequently complement her art. The pop up exhibition continues through Sunday, February 23 with the artist on site at the reception and on the weekends (see hours below).

Danielle Rogers’ creative passions are poetry and acrylic painting.  She was born and raised in Belgium in a loving family with Dad, Mom and four siblings.  Her family still resides there, and she returns there every few years.  Danielle came to America in her early 20’s to get married.  She started painting when her kids were small and developed a real passion for the arts and has continued to explore and enjoy all forms of art.

The poems and paintings in this exhibit are expressions of emotions Danielle went through in a period in her life.

Such as leaving her Belgian family and missing happy and joyful celebrations; coming to this Country to marry her American boyfriend and being in a place where she did not speak the language.  Years later, with her husband passing and her children leaving for college, Danielle found peace, comfort, and fulfillment in her poems, paintings and within a circle of good friends.  Danielle believes that many people can relate to similar experiences as they are part of everyone’s life.

In addition to the February 15 afternoon public reception, the show will be open to the public Sunday, February 16;
Wednesday, February 19; Friday, February 21; Saturday, February 22; and Sunday, February 23, from 2-5pm.   Free admission and parking.   Need more info? Contact us at 845.803.8622 or visit our comprehensive website at www.putnamartscouncil.com
