Notice of Public Hearing 1/15/26 (Reso #388)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing will be held before the County Executive of the County of Putnam at Room #102 of the County Office Building, 40 Gleneida Avenue, Carmel, New York 10512 on the 15th day of January, 2026 at 3:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. concerning:
Amending the Code of the County of Putnam, as approved and re-adopted by the Putnam County Legislature by resolution #388, by amending Chapter 2, adding section 11, “Counsel to the Majority of the County Legislature and Counsel to the Minority of the County Legislature.” (Rescinded resolution #379 of 2025)
Section 2.11 establishes the positions of Counsel to the Majority of the County Legislature and Counsel to the Minority of the County Legislature in order to protect the system of checks and balances inherent in the separation of powers of each branch of the government, thereby protecting individual liberties and preventing one branch of government from having supremacy over another.

Pursuant to Section 34(5) of the Municipal Home Rule Law, this Local Law shall take effect sixty (60) days after its final enactment and is subject to permissive referendum.
