What is your favorite place to visit in Putnam County?? (April & May Edition)

We asked our followers on Facebook and Instagram, what is your favorite place to visit in Putnam County, and we got some great responses.

Each month we will want to hear from you on your favorite places to visit (attractions, historical sites, restaurants, shops etc.) and we will highlight them.

Plan a visit to the following followers’ suggestions:

1) Green Chimney’s
The Sam and Myra Ross Farm & Wildlife Center at Green Chimney’s Brewster campus is a popular attraction for families and animal lovers, alike.

The Farm & Wildlife Center is open to the public, free of charge. Take a stroll through their barns, paddocks and wildlife area at your own pace.

Green Chimneys is home to over 300 animals and birds, from the familiar to the exotic to the endangered.

2) Putnam County Fair & 4-H Showcase
There is nothing better than wholesome family summertime fun at a county fair. The annual Putnam County Fair & 4-H Showcase, the country fair families love, will be returning Saturday, July 25th and Sunday, July 26th at Veterans Memorial Park in Carmel, NY.

Free parking and admission. It is more than an event, it’s a tradition. So, spend the day with your kids and grandkids and have a blast making lasting memories. There’s something for everyone at the Putnam County Fair!

3) Fahnestock State Park
Clarence Fahnestock Memorial State Park is a delight for outdoor enthusiasts. This 15,000-acre park, covering land in Putnam and Dutchess counties, boasts hiking trails, picnic areas, scenic campground, and abundant opportunities for boating, hunting, fishing, and birding.

4) Hawk Rock
Located off the Tom Morgan Trailhead in Kent, NY is a majestic 25-foot boulder that resembles a huge, perching bird. Along the hike you will see a few of Putnam County’s mysterious stone chambers. The Horse Pound Brook Unit park trail is about 3.5 miles.

Tilly Foster Farm:
Located in Brewster, NY, Tilly Foster Farm is open to the public all year round. Stop by and say hello to the animals, go fishing at the pond and do not forget to get a bite to eat at Tilly’s Table. Tilly’s Table has events at the farm all year round, from summer concerts to comedy shows.

Kent Public Library
Libraries are a vessel of knowledge and the books within them allow readers to utilize their imagination. Kent Public Library offers daily activities for their patrons.
