SOUTHEAST, NY - Earlier this week, Putnam County Executive Kevin Byrne was joined by representatives from the county Economic Development Corporation and Industrial Development Agency as well as the Brewster Chamber of Commerce for a tour of the 303,100-square-foot Lesser Evil distribution building off Pugsley Road in the Town of Southeast.
The Danbury-based manufacturer of non-seed-oil popcorn and other healthy snacks picked Putnam County to host one of its major facilities over a range of other competitors. In April the Hershey Company announced a deal to acquire Lesser Evil worth approximately $750 million, according to published reports.
“Remember that Putnam County is home. Regardless of what may make us different as individuals, it is our respect for each-other as neighbors, our desire to step up and serve, to lend a hand, and leave this beautiful county better off than we found it. That is what makes this place so special. It is with that in mind that we as a county government are here to serve, and will always serve, with a desire to do better.” - Kevin M.
