‘Trailblazing with Byrne’ Kicksoff at Veterans Memorial Park, Adds Putnam Valley Event
CARMEL, NY – On Saturday, May 10, County Executive Kevin Byrne officially kicked off his 2025 “Trailblazing with Byrne” series of outdoor constituent conversations. The May 10 event featured a short question-and-answer forum at Veterans Memorial Park followed by a short hike along one of the park’s trails. Participating residents were not charged a fee to enter the park. “Trailblazing” comes on the heels of Byrne delivering his State of the County address to local audiences at each of the county’s four senior centers last month. The county executive also announced a new Putnam Valley stop on the tour, taking place at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, May 30 at Leonard Wagner Park. All events are free and open to the public. Remember to dress appropriately with proper footwear for walking.
“This is a unique opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and address our residents’ concerns, closer to home,” said Byrne. “Please join us for the next Trailblazing with Byrne event in your community and let’s hit Putnam County’s beautiful trails together!”
The list of upcoming Trailblazing with Byrne constituent conversations, including locations and times, can be found here. The next public events will bring Byrne to the towns of Carmel and Patterson. Each stop will feature a question-and-answer session to start followed by a short hike along a local span such as the Putnam Trailway.

“Remember that Putnam County is home. Regardless of what may make us different as individuals, it is our respect for each-other as neighbors, our desire to step up and serve, to lend a hand, and leave this beautiful county better off than we found it. That is what makes this place so special. It is with that in mind that we as a county government are here to serve, and will always serve, with a desire to do better.” - Kevin M.
