BURGLERS CONVICTED AFTER LONG TERM INVESTIGATION
CARMEL, NEW YORK – September 9, 2025 – Putnam County District Attorney Robert Tendy announced today that co-defendants Donovan Slater, a Suffolk County resident, Percy Dickinson, and Roodler Pierre-Louis, Nassau County residents, all pled guilty as first time felony offenders to Attempted Burglary in the Second Degree, a D violent felony, in Putnam County Court in front of the Honorable Judge Joseph Spofford. Defendants Slater and Pierre Louis will be sentenced to three years state prison and two years post release supervision, while defendant Dickinson will be sentenced to the equivalent of two years local jail time.
On April 22, 2024, Putnam County Sheriff Office’s (PCSO) deputies responded to residential burglary in the Town of Southeast for a report of a garage being broken into and all-terrain vehicles and a motorcycle being stolen from the garage. PCSO Investigator Benjamine Levine spearheaded a months long investigation into the burglary. When the investigation commenced, investigators had no identifying information on any of the perpetrators involved, as during the commission of the burglary the individuals wore face coverings and gloves. Investigators extensively reviewed surveillance videos and utilized other investigative tools in order to identify a target vehicle.
Once a target vehicle was identified, the investigation continued in conjunction with the Putnam County District Attorney’s office (Assistant District Attorney Melissa Lynch), where search warrants and subpoenas were subsequently utilized to obtain and analyze voluminous cell phone data and GPS data in order to identify the perpetrators of the burglary. The investigation culminated in search warrants which were conducted in Nassau and Suffolk counties at the residences of Pierre Louis and Slater with evidentiary items being recovered. Investigator John Hyla conducted forensic examinations of cellular telephones recovered, further tying the defendants to the burglary. Defendants Slater and Pierre Louis were arrested in July 2024, an arrest warrant was issued for co-defendant Dickinson, and he was arrested in January of 2025 by PCSO.
“The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, particularly John Hyla, and ADA Lynch, did fantastic work on this investigation. These defendants were professional burglars, and they were apprehended by professional law enforcement agents. Great job.”
The District Attorney's office additionally thanks the victims of the burglary for their integral cooperation during the investigation and prosecution of this case.
