CARMEL, NEW YORK – September 1, 2026 – Putnam County District Attorney Robert Tendy announced today that 47-year-old Omar Miles, of Mahopac, NY, was sentenced on August 19, 2026, to seven years in prison followed by three years post-release supervision after pleading guilty to one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th Degree in June of this year.
Miles was arrested on December 22, 2025, after a joint investigation conducted by the Carmel Police Department and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit to identify individuals selling cocaine out of a Mahopac residence. Over the course of several months, detectives learned that Miles and a co-defendant (whose charges are still pending) were selling cocaine out of 60 Union Valley Road in Mahopac. A search warrant executed at the residence on December 22, 2025, unveiled a quantity of illegal pills, cocaine, and equipment used to prepare narcotics for sale. Miles also had over 1/8 of an ounce of cocaine on him at the time of this arrest.
Tendy remarked that “Miles is now an 8-time convicted felon who was last convicted by a Putnam jury in 2018 of multiple felony narcotics charges. His parole supervision for that conviction ended on August 18, 2025, just months before this arrest. Our local law enforcement agencies and prosecutors work around the clock to keep career criminals like Miles off the streets of Putnam County. This was a well-orchestrated investigation and a strong case that resulted in a negotiated plea and much-deserved lengthy state prison sentence.”
The investigations were conducted and arrests made by the Carmel Police Department and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office. The case was prosecuted by First Assistant District Attorney Breanne Smith.
