Putnam County Urges Residents to take its Climate Vulnerability Assessment Survey

16 December 2025

Putnam County is seeking residents’ input regarding the community impact of extreme weather through its Climate Vulnerability Assessment survey. The survey, which takes 10 minutes to complete and is currently posted on the County’s website at https://putnamcountyny.gov/ccarp, is designed to assess hazards facing the County and the key assets at risk.

This survey is part of a broader effort between the Putnam County Planning Department and the Hudson Valley Regional Council to develop a Community Climate Adaptation and Resilience Plan (CCARP). This County-wide Plan will integrate data analysis, community input, and strategic recommendations in order to provide a framework for action to support the County in creating a safer, healthier, and more resilient future. This partnership is supported with funds provided by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC).

In June 2024, Putnam County became a Bronze-certified Climate Smart Community through New York State’s Climate Smart Communities (CSC) Program. The County’s partnership with the Hudson Valley Regional Council will further its existing climate progress and assist in its efforts towards Silver certification.

Please share your perspectives and experiences by completing the survey, available in English and Spanish at https://putnamcountyny.gov/ccarp or scan the QR code posted below. Responses will be accepted until January 5, 2026.
