1) One Room Schoolhouse Open House

Visit the restored Town of Kent School District # 3 One Room schoolhouse. View local artifacts and archives in a 1901 schoolhouse. Period school desks, blackboards and text books are on display. Original boys and girls outhouses are in the schoolyard as well as other artifacts from the local farming community.

2) REV250 Hudson Highlands History Festival

Location: Putnam History Museum (63 Chestnut Street, Cold Spring, NY)
Time: 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM

The REV250 Hudson Highlands History Festival will be held on the grounds of the Putnam History Museum from 2:00 to 5:00 pm on Saturday, October 10. It will be a celebration of the contribution our area made to the founding of our country - right in our backyard! A full range of family activities will include: revolutionary reenactors, colonial toys and games, historical storytelling, food and drinks, and live bagpipes.

Legacies: Relics from the Losing Side is a new exhibition that brings forward perspectives that are often overlooked or simplified in popular understandings of the Revolution. Through surviving objects from furniture, to portraits, documents, and everyday domestic belongings, the exhibition traces the lives, losses, and enduring cultural impact of families who remained loyal to the British Crown. For many, particularly New Yorkers, this was not a clear-cut or ideologically rigid choice, but a deeply complex and often painful decision shaped by family ties, economic realities, cultural identity, and uncertainty about the future. These works illuminate the complexities of allegiance, exile, and identity in a newly formed nation, offering a fuller, more human account of the Revolution’s consequences.

▪ Interactive Driving Tour Brings Revolutionary History to Life Across Putnam County - The Revolutionary Road to Putnam County

Putnam County Tourism has launched a free drivable audio tour as part of its Revolutionary 250 celebration, The Revolutionary Road to Putnam County, which is narrated by well-known Putnam County philanthropist George Carroll Whipple III.
