We asked our followers on Facebook and Instagram, what is your favorite place to visit in Putnam County, and we got some great responses.
Each month we will want to hear from you on your favorite places to visit (attractions, historical sites, restaurants, shops etc.) and we will highlight them.
Plan a visit to the following followers’ suggestions:
1) Mt. Taurus
Also known as Bull Hill, is a loop trail that offers amazing views of the Hudson River and surrounding mountains in the Hudson Highlands such as Storm King and Breakneck Ridge. The trailhead is north of Cold Spring village along Route 9D by about a mile. There are multiple moderate & hard ranked trail routes.
2) Izumi Japanese Cuisine
Izumi Japanese Cuisine in Carmel offers a variety of traditional Japanese dishes, from expertly crafted sushi to flavorful kitchen specialties in a comfortable atmosphere. It is a popular restaurant for casual lunches and dinners, and special occasions.

3) Aji Sushi
If you are ever in Brewster and are in the mood for some sushi or classic Japanese food staples look no further then to AJi Sushi Japanese Restaurant. Conveniently located in the Towne Center Shopping Plaza right off Route-22, this sushi place has over 50 sushi rolls to choose from.

◊ Graymoor Friars of the Atonement
Nestled in the hills of the Hudson River in Putnam County, 50 miles north of New York City, Graymoor’s picturesque grounds, shrines and chapels are open dawn to dusk, year round, for the public and people of all faiths to enjoy. From the summit of Mount Atonement, marvel at the sweeping vista and the beauty of a replica of Michelangelo’s Pieta. A few steps away find the tranquility of the St. Francis Chapel, with its altar that once marked the spot where St. Francis of Assisi received his holy stigmata in 1224.

◊ Nimham Mountain Multiple Use Area
The 1,054-acre Nimham Mountain Multiple Use Area is named after Chief Daniel Nimham of the Wappingers tribe. This area is a very popular spot with options to bike, hike and horseback ride. There are a variety of trails to see and explore but the main appeal is the fire tower. The Mount Nimham Fire Tower is an 80-foot-high tower that has beautiful 360 views of the gorgeous Putnam County and the Lower Hudson Valley. This spot is worth visiting!
