Cherline Rene-Polo used baking to keep her two daughters occupied and at ease during the COVID-19 pandemic, helping take their minds off the chaos and uncertainty in the world.
One of their favorite things to do was dip treats and fruit in chocolate, including Oreos, strawberries, and pretzels. Soon, Cherline began passing out the goodies to friends and neighbors.
They were an overwhelming hit. And during the dark days of the pandemic, ChocoSweetBerries was born.
After years of selling her delicious treats from home, Rene-Polo opened a storefront, located at 531 Route 52, Unit 5, in Carmel Hamlet, in January.
Rene-Polo, a nurse, runs the business with her husband, Jean Polo, her daughters, Melanie and Melodie, and her sisters, Ritha Rene and Myrtha Rene.
“It is still so surreal and exciting to have my own business,” Cherline Rene-Polo said. “It’s like I really went for it. I went for my dream. It means a lot to me, and I hope that this business can help take care of my family.”
ChocoSweetBerries specializes in handcrafted, gourmet chocolate-covered treats, often decorated with edible gold. Founded in 2021 by a nurse, the shop offers local pickup and delivery, custom gift baskets, and dessert tables.
ChocoSweetBerries specializes in gourmet chocolate-dipped treats, including strawberries, pretzels, Oreos, marshmallows, and Rice Krispies, all handcrafted with premium chocolate and a personal touch. The menu also features fresh dessert cups, light baked goods, and refreshing fruit smoothies, made to order for birthdays, weddings, special events, or everyday indulgence.
Every item is prepared in small batches to ensure exceptional taste, quality, and presentation.
